Peru is seeking to boost exports of fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products to Africa. The Andean nation took part for the first time ever in the International Exhibition of Agriculture and Food (SIAM), which took place in the Moroccan city of Meknes this week (w/c 27 April).
The week-long event attracted some 1,200 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and visitor numbers are expected to exceed 1m.
According to Peru’s ministry of foreign affairs and tourism (Mincetur), asparagus, avocados, grapes and mangoes are amongst the products flagged up for export growth.
Peru's participation in the tenth edition of SIAM is the result of joint efforts of the Embassy of Peru in Morocco and the newly created Commercial Office of Peru in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.
