North American exporter Ontario International has expressed great sadness this week at the passing of company founder and president Paul Genecco, who died on 26 January following a long battle with brain cancer.

He leaves a wife and three children. SuAnn Genecco assumed the presidency of the Ontario business some months ago.

A graduate of George Washington University, Ontario International was founded by Mr Genecco in 1990, and quickly established itself as one of the leading exporters of fresh produce from the US and Canada.

The company became direct suppliers to Tesco stores with products including sweet potatoes and stonefruit, exporting to national UK whoelsale markets and major retail suppliers including Greyfriars and Univeg.

'Paul was first and foremost a great friend, but also a very astute businessman,' said his colleague Paul Redgate.

'Dealings were always conducted with great integrity and he was driven by the desire to supply quality produce to the UK market, in the process building the Ontario business into one of the most trusted and recognisable names in fresh produce exporting,' he added. 'All his friends and colleagues' thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.'
