Paramount Citrus has bought a 50,000ft2 coldstorage and packing facility in Pharr, Texas.
California's largest independent citrus grower-packer-shipper has acquired the site, which is within one mile of the Mexican border, from Border Cold Storage.
Paramount president David Krause said: 'This was the next step for Paramount as we grow our interests in Mexico.'
Paramount entered Mexico in 2008 when it purchased 6,000 acres (2,428ha) of lemon and lime orchards.
It has since acquired another 9,500 acres (3,845ha) of lime groves and the Pharr distribution centre is on the route the company's produce will take from Mexico to the US.
