Logistics group Damco has announced the appointment of Edgar Urrutia to the position of country manager for Panama, replacing former incumbent Fredrik Gill.
Mr Urrutia has over 17 years of experience in the logistics and freight forwarding industry, having worked in Spain, Mexico and Panama for Panalpina, while he also holds positions on the board of Asociación de Usuarios – Colon Free Zone and the board of directors of Asociación Panamena de Ejecutivos de la Cadena de Abastecimiento.
'Bringing on board a capacity like Edgar Urritia in Panama confirms our commitment to this market,' said Henning Malmgren, president of Damco Latin America. 'He has a superior knowledge of the Colon Free Zone and its dynamics, which will allow us to become even better at assisting our customers with their needs and challenges, thereby identifying the right solution that makes sense to their business.'
Mr Urrutia noted that the position represented an opportunity to help consolidate and strengthen Damco's position in Panama.
'Our main objective will be to continue making sure we add value to our customers through the right mix of services and offering a world-class customer service, at the same time exploring new business opportunities,' he said.
