Pakistan expects to ship its first ever commercial consignment of mangoes to the US in June, now that all pending protocol issues have been resolved, reports the Pakistan Tribune.
Mango exporter Ahmad Jawad told the paper that airshipments will be dispatched from Lahore to Chicago on a weekly basis from 1 June.
The US plant inspection service Aphis has so far issued seven permits to US buyers, Mr Jawad said.
All fruit will be irradiated at Sadex Corporation, Sioux City, Illinois, prior to distribution, he added.
