Apricots

Following a request from the French AOPs (associations of producer organisations) for peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as from interprofessional organisation Interfel, the ministries of finance and agriculture authorised the sale of produce outside retail stores for the weekends 22-24 July and 29-31 July.

Authorisation had previously been given for the first two weekends of July to help producers cope with the early arrival of many summer fruits and vegetables.

Interfel described it as an 'exceptional opportunity for consumers to take advantage of and stock up on quality produce at affordible prices'.

'During this key period of the campaign, sales outside stores are a useful tool for promoting fresh produce by increasing the number of points of sale for consumers.'
