Oppenheimer

The Oppenheimer Group has used the PMA Foundation for Industry Talent (FIT) to help it appoint its latest recruit, with Allison Dahlgren handed the role as the international fresh produce marketer's new business development representative.

Ms Dahlgren, who graduated from Arizona State University's agribusiness programme in December last year and who has also received a 2009 Pack Family/PMA Career Pathways scholarship, became familiar with Oppenheimer through the PMA FIT job fair.

A series of interviews took place with the group at the Fresh Summit in October 2009, before, upon completion of her degree, she opted to join Oppenheimer on 5 January this year.

'Produce may not always be top of mind when students consider their career choices,' said Ms Dahlgren. 'But when Arizona State became involved with the FIT programme and invited a few students to attend PA, I was intrigued. And then, when I attended the show, I was so impressed by the positive nature of the industry and the opportunities it represented for me, I decided I wanted to be part of it.'

In her role, Ms Dahlgren will create and implement promotional strategies and merchandising tactics for Oppenheimer's full product range, in partnership with retailers, wholesalers and foodservice customers.

'Oppenheimer has been a strong supporter of FIT since its inception, believing in the importance of investing in the future of our company and the industry as a whole,' said Oppenheimer's Newark sales manager Bill Poulos. 'With the addition of Allison to our team, we are experiencing the benefits of the foundation's work first-hand.'
