Dutch fresh produce importer, exporter and distributor Olympic Fruit has launched a new product for the table grapes market which it hopes will offer consumers and vendors added value in terms of health and convenience.
Under the brand name Grapes to Go, the pre-washed, seedless fruit is packaged in a 200g 'shaker', designed to enable consumers to eat healthily during the course of a busy working day.
'Having well understood that consumer habits are changing due to the phenomenon of nomadism, which is more and more relevant among consumers, we decided to introduce into the market a product able to answer to the needs of commodity and health of the modern consumer,' says the company's commercial manager Jan van den Adel. 'The introduction of this ‘out of home' snack has taken us about one year from idea to final concept.'
Aimed at all consumers, the product will be targeted in particular at busy, single people who want to eat a safe and convenient product at the office or out of the home.
The packaging itself has been designed with such consumers in mind: as well as being suitable for carrying the product and displaying it professionally at point of sale, the ‘shaker’ fits perfectly in a car's cup stand and can be closed as well.
'Consumers like Grapes to Go not only because it is an attractive product without any conservatives, but also because it is continuously checked during production, storage and sale,' adds Mr Van den Adel.
The new line will be sold in supermarkets as well as other locations such as petrol stations and canteens.
