Leading Dutch fresh produce importer, exporter and distributor Olympic Fruit has acquired a major shareholding in Netherlands-based fresh vegetable supplier Terra Natura International (TNI).
The decision by TNI's management to sell its shares to Olympic Fruit as of 31 December 2008 marks the latest stage in the development of the two companies' commercial relationship following the establishment of a strategic partnership in late 2007.
Grower cooperative FrEsteem, the other major shareholder in TNI, has apparently welcomed the new development, as it is understood to fit perfectly with the strategic agreement already in place.
'Since the start of TNI in 2005, its management has proven to be capable of translating the wishes and demands of its retailers and consumers to the growers, leading to added value for all parties involved,' said a spokesperson for Olympic Food Group, Olympic Fruit's parent company.
Frans van der Burg and Arno Verboom will remain in charge of the operational organisation of TNI.
In the meantime, Karl Wronski has resigned as director but will continue to work for TNI in an advisory position.
TNI supplies a number of vegetable types, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, courgettes and aubergines.
