Obeikan MDF is has launched the first ‘Obeikan Talent Award 2018’ to mark its tenth anniversary.
The Valencia-based company is inviting students at European universities and design schools to submit their original ideas for products made from MDF, a lighter alternative to wood with a smooth, splinter-free surface which allows for a high quality graphic print finish.
During the past decade the company has consolidated its position as a leading provider of MDF packaging.
'At Obeikan MDF we have designed a series of special actions to celebrate our tenth anniversary. The ‘Obeikan Talent Award 2018’ project comes under the umbrella of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy and is intended to provide a platform for young talents from different European countries,” said general manager Salvador Martínez. “
“We’re looking for enterprising designers who are interested in the world of packaging, who can give free rein to their creativity, make themselves known and opt for training in our company, which will give them first-hand experience of a young, modern and innovative enterprise.”
The designs submitted by participants can have any number of commercial uses, such as packaging, point-of-sale displays, or decoration for home interiors, amongst others.
Obeikan said creativity, innovation, sustainability, style and functionality would be the main criteria for choosing the winning design. The company will also take into account the use of recyclable organic materials and whether the design proposals submitted will be easy to implement industrially.
The winning design will be announced at the prize-giving ceremony that Obeikan MDF will be holding in Valencia in June. The winner will be offered a two-week internship in the design department at the company's Valencia facility.
The deadline for submitting projects is 31 May and you can find all the details on the competition on the website http://www.obeikanmdf.com/en/talentaward/.
