Fruit Logistica 2012, which takes place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds on 8-10 February this year, is being earmarked by Dutch group Nunhems as the ideal opportunity to enhance its reputation as an innovator by unveiling a number of its latest developments.
The group's award-winning Intense tomato range has been extended with the addition of new shapes and larger sizes, making it an attractive option for new sectors and different applications in the market.
A new positioning has been added to the Intense name, the vegetable seed company noted, with the name 'The Chef's Tomato identifying it as an essential ingredient for professional users and an aspirational one for amateur cooks.
'We want to target people who love cooking for their work or their hobby, whether they're in a sandwich shop or in a catering business, and tell them that this product is perfect for them,' said Daniel Kretzschmar, Nunhem's product chain manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
With cost-cutting and waste production set to be major themes at this year's Fruit Logistica, the Intense tomato fits the bill with its non-leak properties, as does the Kirene Galia melon, which changes skin colour from green to yellow when ripe, thus avoiding unripe product or subsequent waste.
Situated at Hall 20, stand C15, Nunhems will also exhibit its complete portfolio of fruit and vegetable seeds designed to meet the needs of all sectors in the fresh produce industry.
