Spanish fruit exports increased in both volume and value terms during May, when compared with the same month of 2013.
Fruit exports came to 714,584 tonnes, an increase of 30 per cent year-on-year, at a value of €753.6m, up 20 per cent. The average price of fruit in May stood at €1.05, 8 per cent down on the same month last year.
It was a different story for vegetable exports, which stood at 406,114 tonnes, down 4 per cent, with value also falling 26 per cent to €306.3m.
For the January-May period, exports of all fresh produce came to 5.6m tonnes, up 4 per cent on 2013, at a value of €5.2bn, growth of 2 per cent.
