Fruit Fresh Up has issued a recall notice for around 4,800 fresh cut cantaloupe and cut mixed fruit packages that were distributed in Buffalo, New York, and the surrounding area.
The decision is related to a larger recall of Rocky Ford cantaloupes produced by Jensen Farms, the Colorado company that shipped melons with a listeria risk to at least 17 states between the end of July and beginning of September.
As of Wednesday a total of 96 infections, including 18 deaths, had been reported in connection with contaminated cantaloupe, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Protection.
To date no illnesses have been linked to the cantaloupe processed by Fruit Fresh Up.
