Spanish export consortium Hortiberia has announced the accession of José María Morote, managing director of fruit cooperative Molinense, as its new president, succeeding José Madrid Egea in the post.
Mr Morote replaces Mr Madrid, president of fellow grower cooperative SAT San Cayetano, as president of the Murcia-based export group, which represents nine major producer companies and 150 associated growers in the regions of Murcia, Valencia and Almeria.
In a statement, Hortiberia thanked Mr Madrid for his four years in the post, during which he focused “all his energies on consolidating the professional development of the consortium until it was situated at the head of the national agricultural sector”.
His successor said his first objective in his new role was to increase the size of the Hortiberia as a group, while increasing volume sales for all its members.
