Tampa Cargo has completed its first airfreight service from the regional airport of Tucumán in Argentina in partnership with freight forwarderTrust Cargo International (TCI).
On Tuesday (18 October), the duo loaded 50 tonnes of fresh blueberries onto a Tampa Cargo B767-300F aircraft in the record time of one-and-a-half hours, according to a news statement from ProFrutal in Argentina.
The flight departed from Tucumán bound for Miami, Florida, in the US where it arrived on schedule.
TCI claims to be a leader in the global transportation of fresh fruit from the Ezeiza international airport in Buenos Aires.
The trade has reportedly welcomed the expansion of services at Tucumán since it will boost capacity for transporting fruit from the region.
The opening up of new business at Tucumán airport is the result of efforts made by the regional Ministry of Production and the Production Development Institute of Tucumán (IDEP) in response to calls from exporters for more air cargo options.
