Alessandro Canalella has been named as the new managing director of Simba, the Mediterranean fruit import subsidiary of Italian giant GF Group.
Joining the Simba board of directors as well, he takes over the role from Raffaella Orsero, who nevertheless will continue as president of the company alongside two other advisory directors, GF Group chief executive Antonio Orsero and Daniele Gazzano.
Canalella joined Simba in 2001, beginning his career in the management and finance departments before being called upon to lead the company's commercial operations in 2008.
Announcing the appointment, Raffaella Orsero commented: 'Doctor Canalella began his professional career with the company and his nomination today confirms the group's strategy of prioritising internal advancement in order to reward those who identify the most with the group's founding values.'
