According to Les Afriques, Moroccan fruit and vegetable exporters, accustomed to sending by road, are soon set to have an alternative means of transporting their produce to the southeast of France with the opening of a new shipping line.
From November, the publication stated, shipping group CMA CGM will be launching a direct weekly service from Casablanca and Agadir to Port-Vendres and Marseille.
The shipping company will reportedly offer a complete service, transporting produce from Moroccan farms to wholesale markets in Arnavaux, Nice and Avignon.
According to forecasts, the new shipping line should handle around 40,000 tonnes for this first campaign until June 2011.
