Carrefour chief executive officer Lars Olofsson has announced that he has appointed Noël Prioux as the new executive director for Europe, responsible for markets such as Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, Cyprus and Romania.
Prioux, who has spent his entire career at the French retailer having joined in 1984, replaces the outgoing Vicente Trius, who is now at Canadian retailer Loblaw.
Having previously served as executive director for Turkey, director of hypermarkets for France, executive director for Colombia, executive director South Asia, and executive director for Spain, Prioux now becomes a member of Carrefour's executive board.

The appointment will become effective on the 1 May 2011, Carrefour revealed.
