Spain’s Grupo Agroponiente and Jimbo Fresh have harvested the first volumes of Kisy a new mini snacking watermelon developed by Nunhems.
Weighing between 650g and 950g, the watermelon has a dark skin, firm red flesh and a Brix level of 10-11o.
Kisy is a brand new concept that stands out because it is easy to peel and can be eaten in so many different formats and situations.
“Kisy adapts perfectly to the new trend for healthy snacking because its compact size makes it easy to buy and transport, added to which it has a long shelf life,” the company said.
“It has great flavour and is ideal to be consumed both inside and outside the home.”
The variety is grown in Spain between April and August and is being sold in the UK, France, Germany and the UAE.
“As always, our company seeks to provide solutions to what the market is demanding. Kisy delivers easy handling and maximum flavour and we are convinced that it will be a success,” said the group’s operations director Antonio Román.
