Global crop protection firm Rotam has launched a new insecticide that will help growers fight against pests that can impact a wide range of fruit and vegetables.

Acaramik targets two-spotted spiders mites and western flower thrips in strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, lamb lettuce, baby leaf, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and herbs, providing residual control on both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves, according to Rotam.

'We anticipate that Acaramik will play an important role in the protection of ornamentals and soft fruits in particular – strawberry, raspberry and blackberry crops,' said Rotam's sales and marketing manager for the UK and northern Europe Trevor Smith. 'Acaramik is produced under strict quality specifications in Rotam's own facilities to deliver the highest standards of purity and efficacy.'

The group recommends that the abamectin insecticide is applied as soon as mites or nymphs are seen, with its translaminar activity meaning it can penetrate leaves to cover all surfaces and immobilise the pests quickly.
