Cristian Moretti has been appointed as the new general director of Agrintesa, as part of a major management restructuring at what is one of Italy's largest fresh produce cooperatives.

Moretti joined Agrintesa, a business unit of industry giant Apo Conerpo, in 2007 and has served as its deputy director for two years. He succeeds Gianni Amidei, who, after almost two decades at the helm, is taking on a new role as managing director of Agrintesa's Alegra and Valfrutta Fresco subsidiaries.

Prior to joining Agrintesa, Moretti was a key member of the management team at Agrifrut Romagna, another division of Apo Conerpo where he rose up the ranks to take on the role of general manager in 2006.

'As well as general direction and other operational responsibilities, the reorganisation process has also involved the cooperative's entire organisational chart, which now offers a far more lean structure starting with the board of directors and the addition of young business partners,' explained Arintesa president Raffaele Drei.

'In this way, Agrintesa has confirmed itself as a modern and dynamic company that is able to deploy all of its resources to respond better to the needs of the global market and confront a serious crisis affecting agricultural production, with the primary goal of maximising the value of its members' products and, in doing so, protecting their income.'
