The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has revealed that its Fresh Connections Central America event will now be held in Guatemala on 17 August, after being moved from its original June date following a volcanic eruption and poor weather conditions in the region.

Fresh produce industry members in Central America will be offered the opportunity to explore and apply global trends and issues affecting the competitiveness of their business at the event, with decision makers from the supply chain coming together to network and discuss solutions for meeting business challenges.

'We are pleased to be able to reschedule this valuable event which is one of the few in the region to unite leaders from the entire chain at a local level,' said PMA president and CEO Bryan Silbermann. 'These events offer great benefit to our members and we're enthusiastic about providing a local forum for members to gain information on the latest trends and apply it to their business and their customers.'

Fresh Connections Central America will explore the international economic crisis and the repercussions for the global produce industry, with a particular focus on the Central American supply chain.

The event will provide attendees with a critical analysis of the impact on both the retail and export sectors, while also providing in-depth insight into emerging consumer and industry trends.
