David Del Curto (DDC) has announced that it has shipped two pallets of blueberries to Italy, marking the beginning of the Chilean exporter's operations in the berry segment.
According to a report by Fresh Fruit Portal, DDC sees great potential in the berry sector, with commerical manager Rodrigo Durán telling the publication that the move was a 'natural step' for the company to take.
Durán explained that many of the company's topfruit and cherry producers were growing berries, and were keen for DDC to offer an export service.
This campaign will see 1m kg of blueberries shipped from both DDC production (30 per cent) and third producers, while in the medium-term the group will look to add further varieties to its export programme.
