Miguel Caillaux Zazzalli has been announced as the new Minister of Agriculture in Peru following a change of government in the South American country.
The Minister will take up office on Thursday 28 July, according to a report by Agraria.pe, surprising industry representatives who expected Walter Aguirre to assume the position.
Caillaux is a businessman and current president of the Peruvian Association of Livestock and Dairy Farmers (Agalep).
He replaces outgoing Agriculture Minister Rafael Quevedo.
According to the report, Minister Caillaux has the backing of various industry organisations, including the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) and the Peruvian Mango Producers Association (ProMango).
