US grocery retailer Weis Markets posted an 8.7 per cent increase in net income for its fiscal year 2010, up to US$68.3m compared with US$62.8m in 2009.

For the full year ended 25 December, sales increased 4.1 per cent to US$2.6bn, from US$2.5bn in the same periodlast year, while comparable store sales increased 1 per cent.

In the fourth quarter, sales declined 1.3 per cent, down to US$662.5m compared to US$671.4m in Q4 2009. Net income was also down in Q4, by 9.3 per cent to US$14.1m.
