Naturipe Farms has announced that Don Harris has resigned from his position as director of category development, effective 1 January 2012, as he looks to launch his own consulting business, Harris Consulting Solutions.

Harris, who has been with Naturipe for nearly four years, is establishing his new business in Boulder, Colorado, with Naturipe becoming his first client.

'Don is a proven produce industry professional who has contributed to tremendously to Naturipe Farms,' said Dwight Ferguson, CEO of Naturipe Farms. 'We wish him well in his new business venture and look forward to continuing our relationship and benefiting from his expertise as his first consulting client.'

Prior to his role at Naturipe, Harris held positions at Wild Oats and Safeway, while also serving on several boards and associations including The Produce Marketing Association, United Fresh Produce Association and the Fresh Produce and Floral Council.

'My time at Naturipe Farms has been enjoyable, rewarding and enlightening,' said Harris. 'I have learned a tremendous amount and had the opportunity to work with a great team.

'The business has grown significantly during my time there and they've established great momentum for the future,' he added. 'I wish them well as they pursue even more growth strategies and look forward to continuing to support their berry category development initiatives. I am very excited about my new enterprise and the opportunity to work with other outstanding companies in the produce industry.'
