Proexport leads delegation taking part in this week’s CPMA Fresh Week trade fair
Murcian grower-exporter association Proexport sent a trade mission to Canada’s CPMA Fresh Week trade show this week to explore new opportunities in that market. Together with several partner companies, it held a series of meetings with importers and supermarkets during the event.
Murcian growers seeking to diversify markets and reduce dependence on more volatile environments are attracted to Canada’s stability and commitment to trade agreements, despite the limitations that have existed to date, such as maritime logistics for fresh fruits and vegetables, or competition from Mexico and the US.
Proexport and two of its member companies, Agrodolores and Fortini, exhibited at the show. They also participated in various events, meetings, and working groups to better understand the specifics of the Canadian market.
CPMA Fresh Week is the largest fruit and vegetable event held in Canada and attracts key players in the fruit and vegetable supply chain, not only from North America but also from other parts of the world.
“The fair is a commercial window into Canada for our producers in southeastern Spain. It’s undoubtedly very difficult to penetrate here; but we believe that the current climate of tariff uncertainty offers us an opportunity to export our products to certain consumer segments that demand the quality and level of service we offer,” said Fernando Gómez, CEO of Proexport.
“Spanish fruit and vegetable production offers certainty and professionalism in times of trade instability. We are being well received in Canada and are working to expand sales here in the medium to long term.”
Several Murcian companies took part in the show, including the Apoexpa association and its partners El Ciruelo, Moyca and Frutas Torero.
