Murcian fruit and vegetable grower-exporter Gruventa is to make Canada a priority in its strategy to target new export markets outside of the EU. Gruventa was one of nine horticultural companies that took part in a trade mission to Canada organised by Murcian trade promotion institute INFO.
“The mission was very constructive as it showed that there is a strong interest in Murcian horticultural products,” said director Fermín Sánchez. “Canadian consumers value quality and we see this as a complementary market to the European Union.”
According to INFO, Murcia exported €3.69m of fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables to Canada in 2014.
Congratulating INFO for organising the visit, Sánchez said such trade missions were vital to the development of Murcia’s agri-food sector.
