The Polish government's Main Statistical Office (MSO) has published a set of preliminary marketing year 2018/19 crop esitmates for some of its key crops, including fresh produce.
According to the report, which was put together by agriculture specialist Mira Kobuszynska and published by the US Department of Agriculture, 2018/19 deciduous and stonefruit production will achieve 'record levels', climbing above 4.2m tonnes, a 50 per cent increase on 2017/18.
Berry production will continue its upward trend, the report continued, with volumes coming in at 600,000 tonnes, 25 per cent
higher than the previous campaign.
Poland's production of root vegetables, however, is estimated at over 4.2m tonnes, a decrease of nearly 8 per cent.
'June and early July rain boosted sugar beets, corn, deciduoous fruit and stonefruit development,' the report noted
