Mediterranean Shipping Company has apparently improved its India-Africa Service service, which operates refrigerated cargo connections between West and South Africa, the Gulf, and India.

According to a report by India Shipping News, a direct reefer link between Cape Town and Jebel Ali replaces a previous one between Coega, Eastern Cape, and the Abu Dhabi port, and offers exporters in South Africa’s Western Cape region greater access to global markets.

“The improvements are particularly beneficial for Cape region fruit exporters, as they gain additional trading opportunities with markets in the Gulf and [India-Pakistan] region,” the report said.

The amended service began with a call in Cape Town on 11 January. The revised rotation includes Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Sohar, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Lome, Cotonou, Abidjan, Tema, and Cape Town, then a return to Jebel Ali.
