Manfred Krautter, campaign and issues director at Greenpeace Germany, has left the organisation and set up his own environmental and social sustainability consultancy. Mr Krautter, who spent 18 years at Greenpeace working on a number of campaigns – most notably those focused on reducing the amount of pesticides used in the production of fresh fruit and vegetables – formally established EcoAid on 4 August 2009.

Spanish soft fruit grower and marketer SAT Royal has confirmed that company director Oscar Verges has left the company. A spokesman for the Seville-based firm said that Mr Verges had left his position at the group, but added that he would not be replaced following an internal restructuring. Mr Verges told Fruitnet.com that he had parted ways with SAT Royal following two-and-a-half years with the company.

US-based biotech company Monsanto has revealed that long-serving executive vice-president and chief financial officer Terry Crews is to retire from the group on 30 November. Mr Crews, a 32-year veteran of the industry, will be replaced by current executive vice-president of strategy and operations Carl Casale, effective 1 September 2009.

Discount retailer Aldi has made the surprise announcement that Paul Foley, the managing director of its UK & Ireland branch, has left the group to pursue new business interests. According to press reports, Aldi revealed that Mr Foley departed by mutual consent in August following a 20-year spell with the group. He will be replaced in his role by Armin Burger.

Appointments

Chiquita Brands International has revealed that its board of directors has appointed Michael Sims as the group’s new senior vice-president and chief financial officer, moving from his current role as vice-president of corporate development and treasurer. Mr Sims replaces the outgoing Jeffrey Zalla, who is leaving to pursue other business ventures.

Pest management solution specialist Exosect has announced the appointment of Garry Thompson to the role of sales manager for its professional products division, responsible for managing the company’s product range on at international level.
