Eric Lagerweij has been appointed product units director at Dutch marketing organisation The Greenery with immediate effect. Lagerweij, who was previously sourcing director of The Greenery’s import division, Hagé International, will be in charge of directing sales as well as purchasing activities on behalf of various product divisions.
United Fresh Produce Association has revealed in its newsletter that the group’s president, Tom Stenzel, has been elected as the new chairman of the International Federation for Produce Standards. According to the report, Stenzel will be assisted by a new vice-chairman, Harrij Schmeitz of Netherlands-based Frug I Com.
The directors of Fedepom, the French trade union representing the potato sector, have elected as their new president Gilles Fontaine, director of Desmazières, a producer of potato plants based in Pas de Calais. Also elected were Marc Morellato of Pom’Alliance and Régis Wecxsteen of Wecxsteen, who were chosen as the union’s vice-presidents.
Nelson-based fruit and berry grower Julian Raine has been elected to the board of Horticulture New Zealand, with existing directors Ru Collins of Hawkes Bay and Tony Ivicevich of Auckland returning to the board.
Camposol has named former Chiquita project manager José Antonio Gómez as its chief commercial officer, and has also announced the resignation of Gustavo Guerrero, its operations manager. Deputy CEO Piero Dyer Coriat will oversee operations until a new structure is organised.
Asda has announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer, Judith McKenna. She makes the move from the position of chief financial officer, which had held since 2001.
Departures
Maren Schoormans has left Monsanto Vegetable Seeds after 14 years working for de Ruiter Seeds and, following its acquisition, Monsanto. Schoormans joins Priva, a Dutch specialist in automated climate and process control for the horticultural sector.
