Production set to be around 80,000 tonnnes, 18.8 per cent higher than last season’s previous record crop
Morocco’s blueberry business continues to expand with the news that it expects to produce around 80,000 tonnes of the fruit this season.
The North African country set a record for blueberry exports last season, when it shipped a total of 67,300 tonnes to foreign markets, and it looks set to achieve a similar year-on-year increase in 2024/25.
Juan Sainz, general manager of US-based Frutta Group, told news website Agrimaroc: “Moroccan blueberries are renowned for their exceptional quality. Consumers, especially those looking for premium products, are increasingly turning to Moroccan fruits, which is helping to strengthen their reputation on the international market.”
Frutta Group works with blueberry producers across Latin America, Europe and Morocco.
According to Sainz, the new season looks promising for Moroccan blueberries in terms of quality and volume.
