Hass avocados

Morocco exported a record 56,700 tonnes of avocados worth US$179mn in 2023/24, representing an increase of 25 per cent on the previous season according to EastFruit.

Current trends suggest this record could be topped in 2025/26. By mid-season, Morocco had exported nearly 42,000 tonnes, an increase of 73 per cent on the year-earlier period. Historically, peak export volumes are recorded in January and February.

The main destinations for Moroccan avocados are Spain, France, and the Netherlands, which together account for more than 80 per cent of exports.

Shipments to Switzerland, Belgium, and Portugal have also seen a notable increase, while exports to Canada and Turkey have resumed after a hiatus.

In total, Morocco exported to 25 countries between July and December 2024, compared to 19 for the entire previous season.
