Dutch fresh fruit and vegetable companies will be present in record number during the three days of Fruit Logistica 2011, congregating for the most part around the familiar Holland Pavilion, which this year will have expanded to 108 exhibitors covering a total combined area of 2,630m2.
Among the companies joining their counterparts for the first time in 2011 will be a number of onion exporters – Waterman, Wiskerke, Marbo and Nieuwenhuizen – as well as soft fruit marketer VitalBerry, Hermans Suikermais and ADB Cool Company.
Driving growth in the participation of exhibitors from the Netherlands has been a recent increase in the volume of fresh fruit and vegetables being sold by the country to neighbouring Germany.
According to figures quoted by the Fruit Vegetables Agency Holland, imports of Dutch produce into the German market rose by around 5-7 per cent year-on-year in 2010.
“This is probably one of the reasons that Dutch companies have found to participate in the event,” comments Ger van Burik, exhibition coordinator at Holland Fresh Group. “In 2003, we started out with a small number of participants. Now the exhibition has grown into one of the biggest events for the Dutch sector.”
