Chilean fruit veteran Mike Rodgers has joined California-based Giumarra Companies as manager of the group's East Coast operations, according to a report from The Packer.
Rodgers' time in the produce industry began in 1984 at the Philadelphia Regional Produce Market, before he become sourcing manager for fruit and vegetables at CH Robinson Worldwide.
'Being here at Guimarra is more to my specialty and my strength,' he said. 'That's what I did, import fruit, when I first got into the produce business. This is a great opportunity for me. Giumarra is a great company and one of the largest importers of Chilean grapes.'
John Giumarra, managing director of the group's East Coast Chilean programme, commented: 'As we do business throughout North America selling to supermarkets, wholesalers and foodservice companies, he has dealt with all of those categories and has hit the ground running.'
