Miguel Gonzalez, general manager of Dutch supplier Hispa Fruit BV, has announced that he will be selling his 30 per cent share in the business to the Staay Food Group.
According to the Fresh Produce Journal, the planned merger between the two companies accelerated the process.
Gonzalez has also confirmed that he will be stepping down from his position as general manager and is set to leave the company by the end of May 2013. However, he will remain affiliated with Staay Food Group as a consultant and ambassador.
Following the acquisition of Gonzalez's shares, Staay Group now has 100 per cent ownership of Hispa Fruit, and both companies will now operate under the name of Staay-Hispa B.V.
In a statement, the Staay Food Group praised Gonzalez for his accomplishments at Hispa Fruit and said that his departure 'marks the end of an era.'
'The firm foundation that Miguel Gonzalez created with Hispa Fruit is the perfect starting point for an expansion of activities and further scaling-up that will rapidly be achieved with the merger with Staay Barendrecht,' the group noted. 'We are extremely grateful to Miguel for all that he has accomplished.'
