Daniella-branded mangoes from Mexico have been recalled on the Canadian market following several confirmed illnesses associated with the consumption of the fruit.
The recall was issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the importer-distributor of the fruit, North American Produce Sales, due to the possibility of contamination with the Salmonella Braenderup bacteria.
The mangoes were sold as individual fruit with a sticker bearing the PLU# 4959 label at various retail stores between 12 July and 14 August, according to a public warning statement from CFIA.
The fruit mangoes may have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon.
CFIA advises consumers to contact the retailer to find out if they have purchased the affected mangoes.
Vancouver-based North American Produce Sales is voluntarily recalling the affected mangoes from the marketplace.
The CFIA said it is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
