Germany-based Metro Group is planning to restructure its Real hypermarket according to Lebensmittel Zeitung and reported by Planet Retail.
The separation of the group's domestic andinternational businesses is due to be abolished, the publication reported, ahead of the anticipated move to put its Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) operation up for sale.
Didier Fleury, who has been in charge of the CEE Real business since 2008, is expected to take control of the entire Real operation, although Metro Group has stated that “a merger of the two units, Real Germany and Real International, is not planned'.
According to Lebensmittel Zeitung, a new structure could arise because of targeted portfolio adjustments in the Real network.
