Mercator is looking to push on in 2011 by growing sales across its southern European websites and consolidating its position in its domestic market of Slovenia.
Local reports in the country suggested that the retailer is aiming to become the leading fast-moving goods retailer in southern Europe by 2015, hitting sales of €4.2bn, starting by growing sales 6 per cent through 2011 to some €2.9bn.
According to Planet Retail, foreign markets are expected to account for 55 per cent of Mercator's overall sales by 2015, when net profit could top €100m, more than double the €41m the group is expected to generate next year.
In Slovenia, the group is looking to consolidate its position as market leader, as well as maintaining a strong showing as one of the top five retailers in Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo.
