Leading Dutch fresh produce company The Greenery saw the its grower membership continue fall last year, according to a report in the Agrarisch Dagblad.
According to the newspaper, the company had some 1,100 members as of the start of this year, 100 fewer than at the same time last year and down on the 1,500 members it had at the beginning of 2007.
The Greenery has apparently attributed the fall in part to recent business closures, although it declined to comment on individual cases.
The company said it expected to see a slight rise in glasshouse and open-field vegetable and mushroom production this year.
Production of other products is likely to remain stable, it added.
