Meijer is preparing to open its first Meijer Marketplace in a near-in suburb of Chicago, IL.
The company claims the 'mini supercenter' in Melrose Park will offer the benefits of its larger stores in tailored grocery environments that reflect the local area.
The Melrose Park store will sell fresh produce much as a supercenter would but also focus on Hispanic and Italian food, reflecting the ethic diversity of its community.
The chain, based in Grand Rapids, MI, operates 196 supercenters and smaller grocery outlets in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
Mark Murray, Meijer's president, said: 'Our teams have worked very hard to design a store that serves the needs of customers in and near Melrose Park. We're very proud of this new store.'
