McDonald's will list calorie information on US restaurant and drive-thru menus from next week.
To mark the publication of the company's first nutrition progress report, president Jan Fields revealed that next year it will put new products on trial in order to "make nutritious choices more convenient and accessible".
Seasonal fruit and vegetable options, such as blueberries and cucumbers, are among the menu items to be tested.
New produce side options will also be made available, as well as a McWrap featuring fresh vegetables.
Cindy Goody, senior director of nutrition at McDonald's, said: "As we continue to accelerate our nutrition-related efforts, we’re dedicated to offering balanced menu options and making nutrition information accessible to employees of McDonald’s and its franchisees, as well as today’s busy customers.”
