Spanish citrus producer Martinavarro has reportedly completed its purchase of the facilities of defunct fresh fruit packer and juice processor Citroluz, almost two years after the Andalusia-based firm ceased operations.
According to reports, the reactivation of Citroluz’s packhouse and processing facility in Cartaya, Huelva, could generate 300 new jobs, while Martinavarro will be able to make use of a site that has a capacity to handle 30,000 tonnes of citrus each year.
Valencia-based Martinavarro is one of the largest citrus exporters in Spain, selling an estimated 40,000 tonnes of oranges and clementines each year.
In addition to production sites in Valencia region, the company produces citrus in Cartaya and nearby Almonte, both located within Andalusia.
