In announcing his new technical administration this week, Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti has handed the position of Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies to Mario Catania.
Catania is a former Director General of the European Union DG for Market Community and International Policies.
He had previously held the role of Head of European and International Policies at the Ministry of Agriculture, where he was is responsible for agriculture, agro-food, fisheries and aquaculture market policies, as well as relations with the EU in shaping and implementing the community regulations by the Council, the Parliament and the Commission.
