Juan Marín, president of Murcian grower-exporter association Proexport, has been named as the new president of the Association of European Fruit and Vegetable Producers (Eucofel).
He will be officially appointed at a ceremony to be held in the European Parliament on 5 December and will hold the post for four years.
Eucofel is the most important lobby group for fruit and vegetable producers in the European Union and a powerful voice when it comes to defending the interests of the industry.
Among the main issues that Marín will have to deal with during his tenure is the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, including the Common Organisation of the Markets and the operational programmes, as well as international trade.
