Karlsson Port and Mathias Marten have been appointed as managing directors of the German fresh produce company

Hamburg-based Port International has revealed that has ”reinforced its strategic focus on future and growth” by expanding its management team.

The group said that, on 28 September, Karlsson Port and Mathias Marten were officially appointed as managing directors of Port International and have since joined Mike Port in leading the family business.

Port said they would join fellow managing directors André Lüling and Philippe Peiró in driving the company’s further development.

“This is an important step in the transition to the next generation, which sends a clear signal of the vitality and innovative strength our industry consistently demands,” said Mike Port, managing director of Port International.

”At the same time, our customers and partners can continue to trust in the high quality and reliability that the Port family and the entire company group have stood for nearly 150 years.”

Karlsson Port has been part of the company for six years, representing the Port family’s sixth generation in the fruit trade, and has for the past two years served as managing director of the banana division.

The group said that Mathias Marten brought many years of experience from a leading auditing firm and the senior positions he held in the food production industry.
