Citrus output in the Málaga area of Andalusia in Spain is expected to fall by around 9 per cent to 163,000 tonnes, according to forecasts released by the regional executive.
Heavy rainfall over the past few weeks have delayed harvesting but have been good for fruit quality, it said.
Meanwhile, local producers’ association Asaja-Málaga said therehad been flooding in some production areas but most had drained well.
Citrus output in the area is dominated by lemons and oranges, followed by Clemenules.
Earlier this month,Asaja-Málaga unveiled a new brand Sabor aMálaga to encourage increased sales of the region's food products.
