The Argentine table grape industry has witnessed a major shift in its export market panorama in the past year with Russia becoming the leading destination for the very first time. Argentina has exported just under one-third of its table grape export crop to Russia so far during the 2007/08 season.
'Up to March 2008, Argentina has shipped around 17,254 tonnes of table grapes to Russia, out of a total export crop of some 64,368 tonnes,' reveals Martín Valle of local supplier Early Grapes SA (EGSA). 'We have increased enormously our Russian business,' Mr Valle adds.
