Magdeburg Cochstedt International Airport, East Germany’s rapidly developing air cargo logistics hub, has announced that construction has begun on a 9,000m2 airside cargo warehousing facility, which will reportedly include a state-of-the-art 2,250m2 perishables centre.
Phase one of this new cargo facility is set to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, complementing Magdeburg’s existing airport facilities.
The new facilities will be equipped with the latest X-ray scanning equipment, while full customs and clearing facilities will also be present on-site.
The airport is located 150km southwest of Berlin in Saxony Anhalt, a major logistics and regional distribution centre hub for a number of leading German supermarket groups.
